Our vision

End violence.

We are committed to ending domestic and sexual violence in Asian Pacific Islander (API) communities by breaking through language, cultural, and institutional barriers. Join us in our mission to end violence.

Violence against women is a human issue that affects not just individuals, but the entire community — in fact, the entire world.

Our Services

Center for the Pacific Asian Family (CPAF) is recognized nationally for our pioneering work in domestic violence, sexual assault and child abuse services within the Los Angeles Asian Pacific Islander (API) community. We created the first multi-lingual 24-hour helpline assisting API survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault in the nation. We opened the first emergency shelter and the first transitional program specialized in serving API survivors.

We provide a wide range of comprehensive services, focusing on the needs of survivors who seek to establish independent, violence-free lives. Our services are free of charge, conducted in many API languages. In 2005, we expanded our Community Program, focusing on community engagement and violence prevention programs.

1-800-339-3940 Multi-Lingual Crisis helpline

Our confidential helpline is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. We answer the helpline in English and many API languages and dialects, and callers can remain anonymous.

Sexual Assault Response Team (SART)

Through our SART program, our multi-lingual advocates are available to support survivors and accompany them to the hospital or a rape crisis center. SART’s team approach is designed to provide immediate assistance, advocacy, and support to survivors of sexual assault.

Emergency Shelter & Transitional Housing

We provide shelter services to survivors in immediate danger, and remain the only emergency shelter for API survivors in L.A. County. Our transitional program helps survivors and their families find permanent housing to build safe, healthy, and independent lives.

Counseling and Case Management

We offer our clients counseling and case management, including: accompaniment to court, hospital, and other social service offices; legal help with immigration, custody, restraining orders, and other issues; and assistance in enrollment of Public Welfare programs.

prevention

We conduct workshops, promote dialogue around healthy relationships, and develop networks to increase awareness and prevent family and relationship violence. We work directly with community partners and schools, providing educational activities and leadership training for parents, students, and school staff.

technical assistance & training

We are one of six partners in the Multi-Year Language Access Resources (MYLAR) Project, which provides state-wide technical assistance and training for participants to adopt a diversity framework and increase language access at their workplace, all to serve victims of violence more effectively throughout Los Angeles County.
