We’re in this together

Dear CPAF family & friends,

We hope you and your loved ones are healthy and safe during these unprecedented times, and thank you for your on-going support of our work. Rest assured we are doing everything we can to keep our staff, clients and communities safe, providing essential crisis intervention services while staying in compliance with California’s safer-at-home order, and CDC and Department of Public Health (DPH) guidelines.

These are challenging times, especially for Asian and Pacific Islanders (Asian/PI) who are experiencing, in addition to financial strain, increased discrimination and hate crimes. According to CNN, racist attacks against Asians are spreading faster than the virus.

For Asian/PI domestic violence survivors who may be trapped at home with an abusive partner, conditions are worse. While social distancing is important for slowing the spread of disease, we know that at times of economic downturn and isolation, incidents of domestic violence and other abuses increase. And the current restrictions may make it impossible to avoid harmful, threatening, or dangerous interactions in the usual ways. To address this rising need, CPAF is working around the clock to support survivors.

CPAF’s 24-Hour Multi-lingual Helpline and crisis intervention services will remain operational so that we can continue to support survivors of domestic and sexual violence.

CPAF’s Domestic Violence Shelters will continue to house and support families fleeing violence, taking much care to keep the families safe by adhering to CDC/DPH’s guidelines on cleaning, disinfecting, and social distancing, etc.

Community Services (counseling, support groups, meetings, trainings, and events) have gone virtual or are suspended to comply with lockdown orders. We are using this time to accelerate roll out of virtual platforms to provide community-centered programming online.
