CPAF Community #UnitedThroughLove

We appreciate how the community came together to celebrate AANHPI Heritage Month this May, and we look forward to seeing you in-person in June for CPAF's annual API Youth Forum!

AANHPI Heritage Month & Give In May

In 1990, the federal government officially recognized May as Asian American & Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander Heritage Month (AANHPI). Thirty years later in 2020, Asian Pacific Fund, AAPI Data, Asian Pacific Community Fund, Korean American Community Foundation, and Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders in Philanthropy came together to launch #GiveInMay to support the work of AANHPI nonprofits who provide vital services to the most vulnerable in our community.

This year we want to give a huge THANK YOU to our community supporters AALLY API student club at Valencia High School, Extreme Networks, Pure Barre San Pedro, Trina Chan, as well as our other amazing individual donors who raised funds for CPAF. Through employee giving, in-kind donation drives, and creative opportunities to contribute to CPAF during t-shirt sales, theater performances, and in-person classes, we are appreciative for the outpouring of support this month. Additionally, we are humbled by the numerous organizations and individuals on social media who highlighted CPAF for AANHPI Heritage Month. We are incredibly grateful for your support!

These are just a few highlights from our valued partners and supporters! Reach out to our Development & Communications team (development@cpaf.info) to be featured in an upcoming highlight.

Mother’s Day

CPAF’s Emergency Shelter held a Mother’s Day event on May 6th. There was food, raffles, and K-pop music videos. After the event, each resident received a self-care gift bag. Thank you to our donor for putting together these beautiful pink Mother’s Day beauty bags, which were gifted together with other items.

The API Youth Forum is June 18th!

CPAF has organized an annual API Youth Forum since 2015, bringing together youth from CPAF’s programs, community partners’ programs, and networks of high school-aged youth from different communities to learn from their peers as well as adult allies with inspiring stories as Asian Americans carrying out community-centered work to end violence.

Event: API Youth Forum

Theme: “One Love, Many Cultures”

Date: Saturday, June 18

Time: 9:30AM to 4:00PM

Location: Boys & Girls Club West San Gabriel Valley, 328 S. Ramona Ave., Monterey Park, CA 91754

The API Youth Forum will provide a space for youth to share ideas and resources to prevent sexual violence and promote healthy relationships and communities by exploring various tools and techniques used to engage youth in the practice of social change. The main objectives are to empower youth in API communities as they discover new qualities about themselves, break through the silence, and raise each other up. Participants will enjoy free food, workshops and music.
