Thank you for a year of #UnitedThroughLove

As we close 2022, we want to express our gratitude for the numerous ways you continue to be involved in our mission to end all forms of violence. We are able to provide ongoing shelter programs, participate in advocacy and prevention work, and build community partnerships because of you.

A Big Thank You from CPAF Board and Staff

Board members and staff thank you for supporting CPAF this past year! Whether it was through monetary or in-kind donations, volunteering, running a fundraising campaign, hosting a webinar, or spreading the word about CPAF, you truly embodied being #UnitedThroughLove.

Coaching Boys Into Men

CPAF Prevention Program staff, in partnership with Families in Good Health (FiGH), facilitated Healthy Relationships and Empathy presentations during FiGH’s basketball tournaments in Long Beach in 2022. The presentations included an interactive exercise in which youth were asked how different scenarios would affect them, with an opportunity to share why they chose the responses that they did during a group discussion. CPAF looks forward to expanding its Coaching Boys Into Men workshops in 2023!

Transitional Shelter Foodscape

One of our Transitional Shelters has begun building its own garden. The shelter program hopes to cultivate a variety of herbs and spices as well as fruits and vegetables that can be included in different ethnic dishes. Though families look forward to including the fresh ingredients in their cooking and meals, staff share that items like Vietnamese Coriander are often sold out at stores. An aspiration is to plant a donated persimmon or other citrus tree. If you have recommendations on where to shop, or have gardening expertise you'd like to volunteer, please reach out to volunteer@cpaf.info.

We Appreciate You, NBC Universal!

In early December, NBC Universal employees gathered to donate and wrap new household items for CPAF's shelter clients transitioning from crisis to safety and healing. The rice cookers, microwaves, cutlery, shower curtains, and cookware and dishware sets will help each family as they establish independent households free from violence. While the group gift-wrapped items and wrote thoughtful cards, CPAF staff joined to share about the impact of the donations. We appreciate NBC Universal employees providing these "home sanctuary starter kits."
