Wildfire Impact
We would like to thank our community of supporters for all of the different ways they helped CPAF continue our programs and services during the recent wildfires. We appreciate our corporate partner Oaktree Capital Management who organized their staff to assemble and donate evacuation-preparation ”go” bags to the families in our shelter. We are grateful for volunteers like Ellen Chen and her family, who even in the midst of evacuating their own home, reached out to CPAF when they learned that one of our shelters was in danger from the fires. We are humbled to be working with staff who remained responsive and adaptive during this unpredictable situation.
With these recent events, CPAF has realized that it would be helpful for our families to receive an evacuation "go" bag when they enter shelter. We will be updating CPAF’s wish list soon with evacuation-preparation kits (i.e. "go" bags) including 1 small flashlight with batteries, 1 pack of sanitary napkins/pads (all sizes), 3-day supply of non-perishable food and water, 1 first aid kit, 1 N95 respirator mask, and 1 backpack/bag containing the kit items. View our in-kind wish list here for these and other currently needed items.
Community Resources
Lately, we are reminded of the power of community in coming together during uncertain times and strengthening one another through shared resources, education, and awareness. One of our partner organizations, Asian Americans Advancing Justice Southern California (AJSOCAL), recently hosted a webinar on immigrant rights and the protections under the United States Constitution. In case you or anyone you know may find this information helpful, we are re-sharing it here and here.
