Wishing you a restorative holiday season

Dear CPAF Family,

As we shared last month, 2021 has been a year filled with unique challenges, as well as incredible connections across our communities in unexpected ways. Through Project Safe Haven, we housed an additional 115 clients and children seeking safety. Our 24/7 hotline responded to approximately 3,000 crisis contacts in 22 languages and dialects. Shifts to virtual settings allowed us to reach 6,000 individuals across the country, with a particular focus on Japanese-, Thai-, and Korean-speaking communities.

Thank you for remaining committed to CPAF’s mission and the communities and families we serve. As the late bell hooks said, “rarely, if ever, are any of us healed in isolation. Healing is an act of communion.”

We wish you and your loved ones a restorative holiday season and we look forward to seeing you in 2022.

Practicing Self-Care

Image of Heart and Soul Coupons: Participants created coupons to gift themselves with various forms of self-care to help them through tough situations, with an emphasis on what makes them feel good/understanding their own needs.

CPAF has continued to host art wellness groups during the holiday season. These art groups provide a safe space for survivors to come together and work on wellness-themed art projects. The holiday season can be a difficult time for many people, especially survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. Through these groups, we provided opportunities for self-reflection, growth, and goal-setting in a supportive environment

Thank Me Card: Participants designed cards and letters centered on acknowledging their strengths and achievements that have brought them to where they are now.

Uplifting Communities

At CPAF, we support agents of change with the tools and resources needed to shift paradigms and lead communities. Residential clients are empowered to establish households for themselves and their children, free from harm. Our multilingual 65-hour advocate trained staff, volunteers, and interns provide intensive support services – case management, crisis intervention counseling, financial literacy education, life-skills classes, and linkages to housing and jobs – to break intergenerational cycles of violence.
