“ONE LOVE, Many Cultures”
Join youth ages 13-18 along with parents, caregivers, and adult allies at this annual summertime event hosted by Center for the Pacific Asian Family (CPAF)! Every year, CPAF hosts this event to empower youth in API communities and bring community together in our mission to end violence. This year’s theme is “ONE LOVE, Many Cultures,” with the focus on celebrating diversity within Asian and Pacific Islander cultures, and uniting through love.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
+What does "API" stand for?
Asian and Pacific Islander. There are also acronyms used to describe Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders, i.e. APA (Asian/Pacific American), AAPI (Asian American and Pacific Islander), AANHPI/AMEMSA (Asian American, Native Hawaiian, Pacific Islander/Arab, Middle Eastern, Muslim, South Asian).
It's important to recognize the vast diversity of the continent of Asia, and what we really mean when we say "Asian" or "Asian American."
+Who is invited to the API Youth Forum?
Any youth ages 13-18, and their parents/caregivers/adult allies, interested in engaging with others from LA County to celebrate our diverse cultures and work towards ending violence!
+Why should I join the API Youth Forum?
- To meet and connect with others through workshops, performances, and advocacy!
- To learn and practice skills in awareness-raising, communication, and relationship-building!
- To be a part of something that matters!
- To try something new!
+What are the COVID safety protocols?
Most of the event will be held indoors, including performances. Masks are not required, though we do encourage individuals to determine what is best for your safety. There will be hand sanitizer and sinks throughout the venue for use. If you are experiencing symptoms, we ask that you take care of yourself and wellbeing at home.
+What is the cost for joining this event?
This event is free! We welcome you to join our event centering youth voices, and invite parents, adults, and families with your energy and openness to participate in the various activities and workshops put together by our planning committee.

+When is the deadline to register for Youth Forum?
In order to place enough food orders and preparations, we ask that you register by Friday, June 10th.
+What items will I get for participating?

+What should I bring?
Please wear comfortable shoes (sneakers or close-toed, flat/levelled shoes recommended). Food, water, and drinks will be provided. Most of the event will be indoors; most outdoors will be covered to protect from the heat. Bring your friends, family, and loved ones!
+Where can I park?
The Boys & Girls Club building is across the street from Barnes Park. There is some parking in front of the park, as well as along the street. The Boys & Girls Club building is also next to the Monterey Park Bruggemeyer Library which has some shared parking behind the Boys & Girls Club building. If there is a baseball game or graduation ceremonies happening nearby, parking may be more limited. Please arrive early or arrange for drop-off transportation.
