Summary
Under the direction of the Community Services Program Manager, the Interim Remote Counselor provides immediate crisis intervention via crisis hotline, including shelter/hotel intake, and counseling/case management to survivors in the community or residing in hotel. Specialized advocacy needed for services specific to API, limited-English-speaking immigrant survivors.
Duties and Responsibilities
Direct Services:
Coordinates with advocates and Interim Housing Liaison on responding to calls and requests coming in through 24/7 hotline/business line/other mean of communication and the requests from existing nonresidential clients/survivors regarding Survivor First program and its services with clear guidelines and process;
Coordinates intake and assessment of survivors into non-residential crisis intervention and emergency shelter programs including program entry, consent and confidentiality and release of information (as applicable);
Works closely with advocates to identify clients/survivors and directly with clients/survivors who are in need of financial support and assistance which will benefit from Survivor First program;
Maintains up-to-date client files on all relevant client services and program activities; works with CS advocates and Community Service Manager to provide accurate feedback and data on daily/monthly; maintains documentation related to clients/survivors’ information and financial documentation based on the assistance they request and will receive with support from the fiscal and admin team including Bitfocus/client database.
Teamwork: Provide general support asked of all staff which may include: responding to emergencies, providing hotline or site coverage, providing translation, maintaining a functioning office. Participate in program and organizational development and attend staff and team meetings.
Outreach: Identify/create opportunities to be an ambassador for CPAF’s mission.
Qualifications
The qualified candidate must possess demonstrated knowledge, skill, abilities and experience in the following areas:
General
Committed to eliminating intimate partner violence, sexual abuse, and family violence; practices non-violence including non-corporal child discipline.
Understands and is aligned with CPAF’s organizational values of Commitment to Nonviolence, Upholding Confidentiality, Self Determination, Teamwork, Continued Development, and Collaboration
Understands and appreciates Asian/Pacific Islander cultures; is able to work with diverse communities (race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, disability, age, gender identity, class, etc.). Bilingual in an Asian or Pacific Islander language preferred.
Must submit to DOJ level Live Scan and subsequent arrest notification, national/local sex offender registry check, annual TB test and annual driving record search.
Must be based in California.

Able to effectively and efficiently address crises and problem-solve with open communication
Able to plan work schedule respective to program needs, including working evenings or weekends if needed.
Demonstrate excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
Must complete 65-hour domestic violence/sexual assault certification training prior to the employment.
