CPAF Joins FVPSA's 40th Anniversary Celebration

CPAF’s Executive Director, Patima Komolamit, attended the Family Violence Prevention and Services Act (FVPSA) anniversary event in Washington D.C. The event celebrated 40 years of offering critical support to domestic violence survivors and their families. CPAF is honored to have been awarded the FVPSA grant through the United States Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) for the first time, recognizing CPAF's culturally specific work to prevent family violence at a federal and national level. As a FVPSA grant recipient, CPAF had the opportunity to engage with federal and local partners dedicated to supporting survivors, learn more about the innovative and culturally specific services that are shaping the future of domestic violence prevention, and hear powerful stories from survivors about the impact FVPSA is making in their communities.

Thank You to our Ongoing Community Partners

CPAF was invited by the National Charity League (NCL), Inc. through our longtime community partner Present Now, to be a part of a panel discussion in November. Staff shared information on the different types of abuse, what a client’s journey looks like while at CPAF, and our work in the shelters. NCL, Inc. is a group of mothers and daughters who have come together in commitment to community service. The event was attended by roughly 100 people and was held at the Community United Methodist Church in Pacific Palisades. Many were curious about how they can volunteer and help. Attendees came away with added knowledge, including ways to support someone who they may know in an abusive relationship and mothers wanting to speak to their daughters about safety planning.

In our continued partnership with San Gabriel High School (SGHS), CPAF co-planned and helped to create a green space at the high school. During the community project, CPAF provided breakfast, while also helping to clear out brush and trash, pour soil and mulch, and plant a garden.
