More Than Ever, We're #UnitedThroughLove
As we begin 2023, we are humbly reminded that our work to end all forms of violence continues in the community. In light of recent events in Monterey Park and Half Moon Bay, we acknowledge that two-thirds of mass shootings are linked to domestic violence and the likelihood of female victims being killed increases by four times with guns in the home. We understand the unique challenges in the AANHPI communities of identifying abuse as violence, as well as the possible consequences of breaking up the family unit and disrupting financial stability in seeking support. While CPAF mourns the loss of lives, we grow even stronger in our commitment to increase awareness, share resources, and build healthy relationships among our youth, parents, and families. We hope you are taking care of yourselves and making time to nurture your spirit. Together, we can create a safer world for all of us.

Advocating for Nonviolence: From LA to DC
Our close collaborative partners Manju Kulkarni of AAPI Equity Alliance and Connie Chung Joe of Asian Americans Advancing Justice Southern California (AJSOCAL) organized with local leaders, including CPAF Executive Director Debra Suh, to meet with Erika Moritsugu, Deputy Assistant to the President and AA and NHPI Senior Liaison, and other federal and local elected official representatives to begin discussing meaningful steps for short- and long-term solutions to preventing and addressing all forms of violence in AA and NHPI communities. We look forward to continuing these conversations beyond what has been a complex and challenging time for many.
Volunteer & Intern Appreciation Dinner
CPAF's first annual volunteer appreciation event was a dinner hosted at our Community Center on January 13. Joined by volunteers, interns, board members, supporters, and staff, the dinner was not only a way of expressing our appreciation, but also created an opportunity for CPAFers to connect and learn more about our organization. During the event, we provided an overview of the volunteer and internship program achievements in the past year, as well as shared our goals and plans for the new year. Emergency Shelter Holiday Party
CPAF’s Emergency Shelter program held its annual holiday party in December. The event was fun and festive. The clients mingled with one another, while watching a movie and eating dinner. Board games and reindeer hot cocoa mix was enjoyed by the families!
Thank you to those that participated and helped us reach our 2022 #UnitedThroughLove Year-End Giving campaign goal! We raised over $16K in unrestricted donations that will directly support CPAF's critical work and ability to adapt and respond to the most urgent needs of the communities we serve.
