Progressing Culturally Specific Services
CPAF is excited to embark on a new project to support current and potential organization grantees of the Department of Justice’s Office of Violence Against Women’s (OVW) Transitional Housing Program (THP) to provide culturally specific services to domestic violence and/or sexual assault (DV/SA) survivors of color. Through a combination of webinars, in-person trainings, technical assistance, site visits, and gatherings, CPAF aims to increase transitional housing resources for DV/SA survivors of color through culturally responsive and linguistically accessible services. CPAF has been providing transitional housing services to survivors of color since 1998. As the lead agency on this training, CPAF proposes to enhance and sustain transitional housing programs to address the new and growing needs of DV/SA survivors of color during economically uncertain times to successfully graduate participants into safe, permanent housing. We look forward to creating a community of learning and practice along with our key partners in this project, the National Organization of Sisters of Color Ending Sexual Assault (SCESA), the National Network to End Domestic Violence (NNEDV), and Ujima: The National Center on Violence Against Women in The Black Community.
